Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, New Start Weight Loss Program
I have always been into my sports, and training at the gym enhances that. I love to learn as much as I can about health and fitness training, and the benefits of the right nutrition for optimal performance.
While working as an electrician, I decided to take my gym education to the next level and trained with Netfit for the level 2 Fitness Instructor Qualification, followed by Personal Training.
Within the last 10 years, I have also had four serious injuries from a variety of activities such as: mountain biking, motor bike riding, a work related injury and a car accident. These experiences - being deferred to and from one health service after another - drove me to find out more about rehab and apply it to myself. I now have a passion to help others who have had injuries, and want to regain their physical capabilities.
My gym education also included lectures at AUT with some of the world’s leading speakers. They covered topics such as ‘Myofascial Assessment - Balancing & Release’, ‘Spine, Knee & Shoulder Injury Assessment & Rehabilitation.’ In 2010 I started my training in Ortho-bionomy, a gentle body therapy for pain relief and body balancing. I also completed my qualification as a Rehab Personal Trainer from Elite Sports Physiotherapists, Australia.
My other passion is to help women achieve their weight loss goals through a ‘realistic lifestyle approach.’ Weight loss shouldn’t be a fight with food.
In 2011 Fiona & Graham offered me the opportunity to get out of Electrical work and into the Gym Industry fulltime, here at Empower Fitness Gym. I love being able to apply the skills and knowledge I have acquired, and hope to benefit as many people here in Taupo as possible.
